A trip to the desert and a Happy Birthday!!!

We've had amazing weather this last week, and on the 30th of December we went with our friend's the Brown's to the desert looking for caves to explore! We were a little disappointed with the first cave we found, but then we decided to explore this lava field, and we had a great time. The kids could have stayed there all day.

Preston was a little exhausted at first.

Ashton and Dylan climbing the lava rock

Ella on the left and Allyson on the right. ---out in the middle of no where!

Liv was picking desert "flowers" :) Of course.

Adam and our faithful dog Max running full speed after Ashton. hahaha! (Unexplored desert territory is a little scary----especially knowing Ashton.)

Adam and Preston at the top of the lava.

Livia and Marshall (This will be on their wedding slide show some day. Right Kim? hahaha)

There were a few "thrill hills" to drive over on the way there and back, and Livia couldn't stop laughing!

And then we always get to double celebrate New Year's Eve....it's also Aaron's birthday and he wanted to go bowling!! It was sooooo much fun. (why haven't we taken them more often?)

Adam got some fun action shots.....Ella

Ashton---complete with tongue hanging out!!!

Aaron--a little early on his take off.

I helped Preston and Liv push the ball down a little ramp.

Look at that perfect form.....hehehe ( I happened to win this game with a whopping 94)

Go Adam!

Pretty view near our home on the drive home.

Aaron's b-day cake------he picked strawberry frosting which happens to be pink.....Adam tried adding red food coloring to make it red.......it turned out dark pink instead!

It's a Ninja Lego cake.

Making a wish! Happy 7th Birthday Aaron!!!! We love you so much! You are an important part of our family.

Very pretty sunset picture! Idaho at its best! And those desert/lava pictures are quite cool. How far away was that?

Thanks Doug- to get out to the cave's and lava flow it takes about 45 minutes. The desert is only about 15 minutes away though. It's just slow driving (and even slower when you get a flat tire) once you hit the dirt road.
